Patrick Hammond, PA-C was the clinic’s first physician assistant. He came to the Brain and Neurospine Clinic right out of PA school in December of 2004. Prior to becoming a physician assistant, he received his bachelor’s degree from the Central University of Iowa and began work as a food chemist in Los Angeles. He soon decided that patients were much more important than products. In 1992, he entered the clinical laboratory science program at California State University of Bakersfield. He began his 10-year career as a Medical Technologist in Ridgecreast, California as a chemistry supervisor. He began to notice the duties of the physician assistants working in the emergency room. After one PA showed such a great amount of compassion and advocacy towards his father during a particularly difficult period in his life, Patrick was sold on the idea of becoming a physician assistant. He was accepted and completed the PA program at Cuyahoga College in Cleveland Ohio in 2004.

Cape has been a great choice both personally and professionally for Patrick. He married Lisa Shirley in August of 2007. The two enjoy traveling, movies, family, friends, church and each other and one of their two dogs depending on the day. He looks forward to assisting you with your medical needs.
